Chiangmai – The Rose of Northern Thailand
Chiangmai is the largest and most culturally significant city in Northern Thailand and boasts some 300 temples the most significant being Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep which overlooks the city and was built in 1383.
Chiangmai has been recently voted by Asiaweek Magazine as one of the 10 most livable cities in Asia and a recent accolade by Travel and Leisure magazine as “second best city in the world”. It has a laid back atmosphere, enjoys a mild climate most of the year, and is very affordable. Hence the fact that as many as 2,000,000 foreigners visit every year and many thousands also call it home and the engaging Thai population are very happy to share this wonderful city with us.
It offers some wonderfully diverse activities for visitors from Cultural pursuits, experiencing Elephant treks or playing with a Tiger cub , Whitewater Rafting or flying through the trees on Flight of the Gibbon. Shopping is also a major draw card as many of the handmade Thai goods found in southern markets and furniture stores are made in Chiang Mai.
MansField Boutique City Resort is located within the area known as Santitham which is within walking distance or a short Tuk Tuk ride of the “old city” centre but significantly we are located in the same area as most of the gay or gay friendly entertainment venues available in Chiang Mai.
